The first part of the workshop is designed to help you understand the principles of colour theory and psychology, and to guide you in choosing and referencing the perfect shades for your space. We will use physical supports like the colour wheel, colour cards, paint samples, pigments.
1. Colour Theory & Psychology
- Basics of the colour wheel: primary, secondary, tertiary colours
How colours are made: pigments, undertones, shades, tints
Warm and cool tones
- How to combine colours
Colour psychology: how colours affect perception, energy, emotions
The 60-30-10 rule
2. Interior Colour in Practice
How light affects colour: orientation, seasons, artificial lighting
Working with architectural features and materials
Fooling the eye: colour, space and architecture
Choosing the right shade: undertones, finishes, contrast
Wallpaper + paint pairings: examples and tips
Selecting colours: colour referencing and paint tests
